๐ Jeep Wj 4.7 Oil Capacity
That me though. Some guys use Redline and have no problems. I believe it's 4oz of Friction modifier in front but let me check first. 75w-140 oil, just mix the FM in the first bottle and pump it in. That`s what I figured. The reason I asked about the redline oil, is because of what I read in the WJ buyer`s guide.
I'm in the process of troubleshooting a 2004 Jeep WJ 4.7 Laredo 4WD which starts up and revs up smooth, and even runs smoothly for the first 5 minutes or so, before suddenly running very rough with lots of really loud piston slap.
Claimed Gains: 10-20hp and 1-3mpg. Actual Gains: 5-10hp. Notes: A good cold air intake will wake up any '91-up MPI HO 4.0L with snappier off-idle acceleration, improved top end pulling power, and
5.02 UK qt. 5.7 L. Automatic transmission fluid: ATF+4. New filling. 14.46 US qt. 12.04 UK qt. 13.68 L. Automatic transmission fluid: ATF+4. On one forum an old timer, very knowledgeable said "The 4.7 WJ's always ran hot. The coolant capacity is too small" He went on to say that you could add an extra tank of sorts. A ballast tank I suppose. But in FACT the 4.7 WJ have a TYPICAL coolant capacity, so I think the issue is with the PWM solenoid control from the PCM to the hydraulic fan.
